We offer modern, advanced, affordable braces for patients with orthodontic concerns that clear aligners can’t easily treat. While appearance is important, at OrthodonTEX our focus is on improving your overall oral health and we will help you choose the best option to optimize both. What Are The Benefits Of Getting Braces?

The benefits of braces are abundant! While traditional braces are designed to straighten your teeth, they can also alleviate more than just cosmetic concerns. Braces have the ability to:

  • Improve chewing and speaking
  • Realign teeth and/or jaws
  • Ease Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain
  • Correct crooked teeth
  • Prevent bone erosion
  • Improve oral health

The Best Age For Braces

Orthodontic treatment isn’t only for teens and adults. At OrthodonTEX, we follow guidelines from the American Board of Orthodontists and encourage patients as young as seven to come in for an early orthodontic consultation because any patient with misaligned teeth or bite issues can benefit from braces. If you’re uncertain if traditional braces are right for you or your family, having a board-certified orthodontist examine your teeth, mouth, and jaw can help determine whether or not orthodontic treatment can benefit your smile.

Types Of Braces Available

Self-Ligating Metal Braces

Metal braces are often what comes to mind when hearing the word “braces.” Fortunately, the awkward, clunky, metal braces of the past have been replaced with modern alternatives, which are sleeker and more comfortable to wear. Updated metal braces work well for patients with more advanced orthodontic issues that can’t be easily treated with clear aligners.

Unlike traditional braces which rely on archwires held in by rubber bands, self-ligating braces have specially designed clips to hold the archwires in place. This subtle shift allows for smaller, sleeker brackets that move teeth more efficiently and comfortably. Self-ligating braces can shorten the total timespan of your treatment by up to 6 months. This means fewer visits, fewer adjustments, and shorter appointments!

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are applied to the teeth just like metal braces, but the brackets used are made of a clear ceramic material. Ceramic braces are an excellent choice for patients who would benefit from conventional braces but want a less noticeable orthodontic option. Patients who choose ceramic braces should be mindful that clear brackets are slightly more prone to staining, meaning they need to be cleaned extra thoroughly.

Will Braces Take Longer To Straighten My Smile?

While the time it takes to straighten your smile will depend on several factors, average orthodontic treatment takes one to two years. When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Meason or Dr. Dhadli will provide you with a custom treatment plan which includes a treatment timeline. Same-Day Retainers

Each patient who undergoes orthodontic treatment must wear a custom retainer to keep their new smile perfectly in place. Our patients can receive their durable retainers in one day instead of waiting for weeks. We take digital impressions of the teeth (no goopy putty required!), and our 3D Printer creates the 3D model, which is used to fabricate the retainer. If you lose or break your retainer, please see us right away so we can provide you with a new one as quickly as possible!
