Orthodontic treatment shifts your teeth into straighter positions. At OrthodonTEX, we offer metal braces, ceramic braces, in-house clear aligners, Invisalign®, and same-day retainers post-treatment. We also offer early orthodontics, like palatal expanders and space maintainers!
In this blog post, we’ll dive into what orthodontic treatment looks like and how long it takes to straighten teeth.
What Can Braces Fix?
Not every smile is naturally perfect. There are various degrees of misalignment that can occur due to genetics, trauma, problematic wisdom teeth, etc. Braces and clear aligners can correct issues such as:
- Gaps, spaces, and crooked teeth
- Bite issues (e.g., underbites and overbites)
What Is the Teeth Straightening Process?
First, you’ll meet with Dr. Meason for a consultation to determine what type of treatment is right for you and what the plan will look like. Patients as young as seven years old can benefit from an orthodontic consultation!
Before moving forward with any treatment, we will discuss the pros and cons, care requirements, and payment options at OrthodonTEX so you feel well-informed about the process.
You will regularly meet with Dr. Meason to address any issues and keep your treatment progressing.
Depending on your individual circumstances, you’ll likely have your braces or aligners anywhere between six months to two years before you get your desired results. At your consultation, Dr. Meason will be able to give you a more specific prediction of how long your treatment will be.
Keep in mind that duration also depends on your compliance during treatment. This involves keeping your teeth clean and healthy, wearing any necessary rubber bands or appliances for braces, and wearing your clear aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day.
